The Joy of the Seasons

Michigan is blessed to have 4 seasons a year. Each season brings with it its joys and its surprizes. This summer has been great wreather, warm but not too hot days, and cool nights. Look around and you can see the fall season arriving - trees are trurning colors, annuals are beginning to wear down, and fall plant are maturing. Soon I need to clean out the annuals, plant the tulip bulbs, set out the mums, and put out the front lawn Halloween decorations. Lots of work, but I enjoy it to get out of the office and move this old body around the yard and flower beds. Plus, it looks good when I get done.

Celebrating Family

Celebrating family is indeed made of a lot of great events. One such event for our family was the celebration of our 50th Wedding Anniversaries this past July. All of our immediate family was able to gather at one time or another , all 24 of us. We rented two house in South Haven , Michigan, on Lake Michigan. The beach was fine, the weather great, and most of all the family bonding and warmth was there. In life and all of its features that most lasting is family. Everything and everyone is important - but the most lasting is family. We have been blessed with fine sons, fine daughters in laws, and exciting grand children. After a week at the lake we all left with great memories, and we were all still talking to each other - how about that. May you and your loved ones have many blessed memories also.

50th anniversary

This next week, July 11 thru July 18 our family will be celebrating my and Bev’s 50th wedding anniversary, and my 50th year as a pastor. Our immediate family, hopefully all 21 of us, will gather at two summer homes on the west side of Michigan, on Lake Michigan. Its hard to realize that 50 years have past. All those memories well up within us all. Those 50 years as a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a Lutheran clergyman have been packed with powerful blessings. Boy, could I tell you some fascinating stories about people, places, and events that have been such a part of my life. Yes, time marches on - the body wont let me do all I’d like to do - but I will not give up the vision for today and into the future. Thnaks everyone for making us a part of your life.

Freedom Festival

DOWNTOWN FREEDOM FESTIVAL - today
We are blessed to live in a land of freedom and, especially, blessed to be placed on the border of two great countries- the United States of America and Canada. On Sunday, June 28th, special worship services were held at 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., at Historic Trinity, celebrating the friendship between Detroit and Windsor. The St. Andrew’s Society Pipe Band (bagpipes and drums) performed during these services. We were all inspired by the performance of "Amazing Grace" by the bagpipes, drums, and organ. I preached on these blessed freedoms "Let Freedom Ring", and I was assisted by the Cathedral Pastors of Historic Trinity.
